CNMA Abortion Training
CNMA has partnered with the Reproductive Health Services Corps to offer both virtual and in-person abortion training abortion workshops throughout the year. These trainings meet all of the requirements under SB 1375, allowing nurse-midwives and nurse practitioners to independently provide first-trimester abortion care.
Our virtual training (part 1) covers options counseling, medication abortion, and telehealth abortion, as well as values clarification. This workshop is perfect for midwives, nurse practitioners, PAs, nurses, and doulas. At the end of the training you’ll be ready to implement what you've learned into your practice immediately with template policies and procedures, standardized procedures, competency validation documents, and patient handouts. 4 ACNM CEs. 2026 dates coming soon!
Our in person training (part 2) includes the didactic and hands-on skills training required for first trimester manual vacuum aspiration abortion care. At the end of this course, the provider will be prepared to begin providing proctored abortion care at their clinical site with another experienced MVA provider. Once competency has been demonstrated, the provider will be prepared to independently provide first trimester aspiration abortion care. 4 ACNM CEs. 2026 dates coming soon!

Our abortion training is based largely on the revised 8th Edition of the TEACH Abortion Training Curriculum, which is now available on the TEACH website. This curriculum is the result of the collective work of many people. We are deeply grateful for every contribution. Every individual who shared their comments and critiques shaped and transformed this curriculum into the version we present to you today. TEACH cultivates the next generation of diverse reproductive health champions through abortion training, mentorship and curriculum development.
