Happy new year! We hope you have had time for connection, slowing down, and rejuvenation as we transition into a new year.

We are so excited about the passage of SB 1237 and the removal of physician supervision for nurse-midwives. As we look forward to implementation we want to make sure we are taking direction from you, the midwives of California.

As an organization our focus and priorities are first and foremost to improve care for the people we serve -- we are especially focused on work that will address the egregious racism-based health disparities in maternal child health. We are focused on supporting, growing and integrating midwives into the maternity care system in California.

We hope you will take a moment (we think it will take ~10min) to fill out the linked survey to help us to understand the specific areas where you hope CNMA will take action to better serve you, the midwifery profession, and most importantly the people, families and communities we serve.

This will help our volunteer team to understand the issues facing midwives in the state and help us to prioritize our work going forward. Please feel free to pass this along to other midwives (both LM and CNM) in the state so we can get a well rounded perspective. Not every section will apply to every midwife who fills this out, if a section doesn't apply to you feel free to skip it and move on to the next section.
