Jacqui is a Certified Nurse Midwife.  She received a master’s degree in Nursing, Midwifery, and as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of California, San Francisco.

Jacqui has been providing care to women, their babies, and their families for over 28 years, and specifically as a midwife for over seven years. Her journey to midwifery began with her own two natural births and the empowerment she experienced which changed her life forever. Her birth experiences solidified her love of pregnancy and birth and reinforced her belief that they are normal events in a woman’s life.

She began her nursing career as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse in a Level IV NICU. After years of being present for births as the care provider for newborns, she began to feel the need to be able to care for mothers as well as their babies and became a childbirth educator and doula.

Jacqui worked with several midwifery practices in Northern California before she returned to San Diego in 2016 working both at Kaiser and in the UC San Diego Birth Center practice.

Jacqui has had experience providing direct supervision and mentoring to interns, residents, and new midwives as they transition to independent practice.

Jacqui believes that every woman has the right to individualized, family centered care, and the birth experience she envisions.  She believes that nature and a woman’s own body have an instinct that guides her through her pregnancy, labor and the birth of her children. Jacqui strongly supports women’s right to be in charge of their health, their bodies, and their unique desires around the birth of their babies. She feels that being a midwife is both a passion and a calling with the privilege of being able to support and care for women during a most vulnerable and exciting time in their lives.
